For Early Childhood Educators & Practitioners
From understanding to practice
Tailored professional learning and consultancy designed around your service, your educators and the children you support.
Perfectly Playful helps teams connect professional learning with everyday decisions, from responding to individual children to reflecting on environments and interactions. Your service's strengths and aspirations guide the focus.
How we work together
- 1
Understand
Initial consultation and observation
We begin by getting to know your service. This may include observing children's play, interactions and environments, talking with educators and leadership, and exploring your service's aspirations, strengths, needs or concerns.
- 2
Tailor
Professional learning shaped around your priorities
The initial consultation informs the development of professional learning that is relevant to your service and the children you support.
For example, this might include exploring how heavy work and movement can be incorporated into play and everyday experiences, or how appropriately supported risky play can provide opportunities for children who seek challenge, freedom, movement and independence.
- 3
Learn
Professional learning for your team
Professional learning can be delivered face-to-face as part of a staff meeting or professional learning session, or online.
Sessions are tailored to the identified needs of your service. Depending on the scope of the engagement, this may include one or two professional learning sessions.
- 4
Apply
Putting ideas into practice
Professional learning is connected to everyday practice. After the session, educators have an opportunity to apply strategies within their own environment and interactions with children.
- 5
Reflect
Follow-up observation and reflection
Katie returns to the service to observe how strategies are being incorporated into practice and provides an opportunity for reflection with the team.
The focus is on noticing what is working, considering what children may be communicating, reflecting on educator responses and identifying possible next steps.
Where further support would be helpful, additional professional learning or consultancy can be discussed with the service.
Grounded in early childhood practice
Professional learning connects with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), National Quality Standard (NQS) and National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Katie brings experience as an Early Childhood Teacher, Director and Educational Leader, alongside her Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Child Play.
These connections support teams to reflect on children's experiences and learning environments within their service priorities.
Supporting Kindy Uplift priorities
Perfectly Playful's tailored professional learning and consultancy can support services to address identified priorities within their Kindy Uplift planning, including areas such as children's wellbeing, participation, inclusion, communication, relationships and educator capability.
Where appropriate, services may be able to use Kindy Uplift funding to support professional learning or consultancy aligned with their approved priorities. Services should confirm eligibility and expenditure requirements within their own Kindy Uplift planning and funding arrangements.
Areas we might explore
These are examples of areas that may be explored, depending on the needs and priorities identified through consultation with your service.
